During the week, you will find kids learning their ABC’s in a preschool classroom or playing with other kids in the nursery. On Sunday morning, you will find kids in the atrium eating snacks, playing with one another, and exploring the sanctuary. When you enter Sunrise, what you would see are kids full of curiosity, with free and wild hearts unburdened by the pains of this world. You will see children who know that Sunrise is a safe place for them. We are convinced that Sunrise helps shape the lives of the children in our care in ways that we will never know. We are showing them God’s abundant grace, giving them a place where they can find true belonging, and shaping them into the type of people that serve Christ by serving others. We are making a difference in their lives that they will carry with them through their entire lives. There are hundreds of kids whose lives we touch each and every week. Sunrise is the type of community that shares the love of God with children and their families through the Sparks children’s ministry, the Sunrise Preschool, scouts, MomCo (formerly MOPS), backpack, food, and toy drives, and countless other ways.
The Sunrise community is making a difference in the lives of children across the Briargate area. We are committed to continuing the work that we started over 40 years ago in a preschool room on the other side of Interstate 25. We will help shape the next generation by giving our kids the gift of love that they will carry with them out into the world. Sunrise Nursery
We place immense value on our nursery care as it forms the foundation of our children's ministry. We understand that for many families, the nursery is their first point of contact with our church community. Our commitment to providing a safe, nurturing, and Christ-centered environment for our littlest ones is unwavering. We believe that even at this young age, children can begin to experience God's love through the care and attention they receive. Our trained and background-checked volunteers and staff members are not just caregivers, but also spiritual nurturers, planting seeds of faith that we pray will grow throughout these children's lives. By offering reliable nursery care, we aim to support parents in their worship and spiritual growth, knowing their children are in capable and loving hands. The nursery is more than just a service - it's a ministry that reflects our belief in the importance of every child and our dedication to fostering a lifelong journey of faith from the earliest age.
Sparks Children’s Ministry
Awakenings | Sunday | 9:00am | Worship in the Sanctuary
Children (and their wiggles) are invited to join their families during the 9:00am worship service.
Traditional Worship | Sunday | 10:30am | Family Ministries Center
Children are always welcome to stay with their families throughout the worship services. Sunday school is available for 3 years old through 5th grade during the 10:30 worship service. After the Children’s Moment during the 10:30 service, children go with their teachers to the Family Ministries Center on the second floor. (Turn left when you exit the elevator.) Classes offer a continued lesson and activity from the Bible at age-appropriate levels. Please check in at the Children’s Desk in the atrium before the start of service.
Wednesday | Faith & Fellowship - Sparks Kids | 5:30-6:00pm
Join us for an exciting evening of activities for children and youth! Peals of Joy (2nd-9th grade) meets in Room 108 from 5:30-6:00pm for handbells. Kids Choir (Pre-K-2nd grade) gathers in Room 108 from 6:00-6:30pm. Sparks Kids welcomes all ages in the Family Ministries Center from 5:30-6:30pm for snacks, faith stories, and fun. Kids not in choir or handbells can enjoy Sparks Kids activities.

Come make a joyful noise with us! As part of Faith & Fellowship nights, potty-trained kids from Pre-K through 2nd grade are invited to come sing with our Kids Choir from 6:00 to 6:30pm in Room 108. From 5:30 to 6:00pm, kids are invited to go to the Sparks Kids gathering in the Family Ministry Center for games and fun. Their teacher will bring them to rehearsal at 6:00pm.

This group offers a great opportunity for young children to make friends and practice social skills, and for mothers to share, inspire one another and take a moment to exhale. Childcare is provided and snacks are provided. All volunteers and nursery care workers are trained and go through a background check prior to signing up.
